Statement from Kelda Helen Roys upon winning on September 9th:
"I am so grateful to the voters of the 81st and I thank you sincerely
for placing your confidence in me. Throughout the course of this
campaign, thousands of our neighbors shared their concerns, ideas, and
hope for Wisconsin. I ask you to continue doing so, because our
government works best when we all participate.
To my good opponents, Peng, Tim, John, Eric, and Justin, you all
ran strong and spirited campaigns. I have truly enjoyed getting to
know you, and thank each of you for running and for your deep
commitment to making our state better. I hope you will share your
talents and expertise with me in the coming months and years.
I thank my partner, Dan Reed, and the rest of my family for their
unwavering support and love. Thanks also to my phenomenal campaign
staff and volunteers, who worked tirelessly and enthusiastically. I am
grateful to Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk for her help and
guidance, and the many elected and appointed officials who supported
and worked to elect me, especially Reps. Sondy Pope-Roberts and Terese
Berceau.
We have a lot of work to do, even before January -
I am going to do my best to help elect Democrats to the Assembly all
over Wisconsin, starting with Trish O'Neil in the 47th District just to
